This initiative was prompted by the need to
improve the pass rates in mathematics at grade 12 level and thus to provide
opportunities for a broader base of learners to pursue careers which require
mathematics and quantitative content at tertiary education level. Four
workshops were conducted from the Otjiwarongo Teachers Resource Centre. During
all workshops the teachers followed the triple H approach-head (knowledge),
hand (skills) and heart (motivation). As part of the teaching and skills
training, the emphasis fell on context and fun in class practice.
